  • ChefStack Raises $2 Million to Market First Automatic Pancake Machine in the United States

Seattle Start-up Signs Distribution Deal with Tully’s Coffee Stores

November 18,2009 – SEATTLE, WA - ChefStack, the Seattle-based marketer and distributor of the first commercial automatic pancake machine in the United States, announced today it has closed $2 million in funding from local private investors. The funds will be used for the marketing and broad distribution of the product in key verticals throughout the country. The stand alone machine allows the creation of tasty pancakes without a griddle which makes it ideal for coffee shops, cafeterias, convenience stores and small hotels and inns

The ChefStack automatic pancake machine has already created a stir and recently won the Food Channel Show Pick award at the National Restaurant Association’s annual convention. The unique item was also the featured product for a week at the famous Gizmodo Gallery in New York City.

“ChefStack attributes the broad market appeal, ease of use, and convenience of the machine as one of the primary factors in raising new capital in such a difficult market climate,” said R.J. Selfridge, CEO of ChefStack. “The limitless menu options, all-natural ingredients, and high profit potential of the ChefStack machine are attracting a range of coffee shop operators; from the single location espresso stand, to larger chains, such as Tully’s. This new investment enables us to grow the market, build a national sales network and provide world-class support to our partners,” he said.

ChefStack offers convenience stores, grocery stores, schools, hospitals and coffee shops the ability to quickly produce fresh, 97% fat-free, pan-less pancakes in as little as thirty seconds. The ChefStack unit is easily operated without supervision. Pancakes are produced from no-mess batter pouches and can be used as the base of a variety of new food creations - at breakfast, during lunch or as a healthy snack.

Presentation and vending options to end customers are limited only by the creativity and menu selection of the ChefStack partner. From traditional restaurant-style, three pancake stacks with butter and maple syrup, to mini-pancake “shooters” with eggs and meat, to fruit-filled pancake turnovers, the possibilities for customer satisfaction and profits are virtually limitless. The ChefStack concept has been proven in the market over the last three years in countries such as Australia and New Zealand, where partners have experienced a 100% return on their investment in as little as four months.
